Sounds like damp-off. If the stem just sort of rots and wilts away and the plant falls over that is likely the cause. Fungal disease.

Here you can see the fogger I was talking about. It uses about 40 watts to put out more fog than a kettle would. The fog barely shows up in the light though. I'll have to try a shot when the lights are out.

It is very contagious. Best to remove the bodies. It likes damp conditions and can be transmitted through soil and water. When I was in soil and having problems with it, I would heat my wet soil up in the oven at 150 F for an hour or two and water with purified water. Seemed to help alot. Not much help when you have already gone ahead with 10 precious seeds from the breeder. I have been there, done that too many times.

Ya you need to make sure that you dont keep your soil soggy the first week or so of life Gotta let it dry out a little or that damping off happens and your plants just fall over and die.. Hope they pull through this plight.

    Good advice KIM.
I think I overlooked the over watering part because it is now impossible for me to over water. In fact on my first flood and drain run I flooded every hour during lights on. I have since cut back to 2-4hour intervals. I could not believe the growth rates I had. Related to increased humidity, I am sure. The more I flooded the more dissolved oxygen was put into the water. This factor alone has been enough to prevent me from using soil again.

Yeah those sticky shells and skins have caused fatalities for me too. This time I had the rockwool cubes moist and covered by a humidity dome with just a crack open for ventilation. It was just enough that all the shells came off nicely and only needed a bit of gentle prodding from a pencil to free a couple skins. Good thing these seeds were fresh. Old feeble seeds are a bitch to release before they perish.

So here are some new pics of the SS.

First you can see the humidifogg420 pumping out its mist. It really is more impressive by eye. The camera just won't pick up the mist even with the flash off. It seems to working though. Growth is really fast, evaporation and transpiration of water from the reservoir is greatly reduced and the pH drift is minor.

The plants internode spacing is nice and compact. Not sure if thats anything to do with humidity or maybe its because I am running GH Maxibloom as lucas formula (1 tsp/gallon 600-700ppm.

Its now day 17 but probably more like 14-15 days since the seeds popped. Today I went to a 12/12 photoperiod. Hoping they show sex in about 10 days.

    Hey Lostfrog,

Was just noticing you started this thread on April 5, saying you had just planted your SS seeds and reported on April 7 that 10 seeds had germinated. Does this mean that your plants are at least 5 days younger than mine? (I planted April 1, germination April 2-3) Something to keep in mind here.

Are they starting to take off yet?. Any branching happening? Just wonderin cause Mike says to flower early to get a giant bud. I would veg it for a few weeks at least(3) then I would flower. Dont know if I would top them or lst them, Probebly would let them gow normal to see how they grow.

To echo what others are saying: good yield, easy to grow, can eat a lot of nutes, good high (sativa-but not super electric Acapulco Gold, more "modern sativa", really uniform, fun to make crosses with because it's predictable and has many great qualities.
For those who care: I am legal in my state with a medical marijuana card. Everything I am describing here is in compliance with my state's medical marijuana laws.

Default Sweet Skunk just over a month in...

Well these plants are taking off by stretching. Glad I flipped them into flower on day 17.

The pics here are taken a two different times. Basically before and after sexing. Sexing took forever it seemed. Ended up with 5 males/5 females. The lucky chosen breeding stud is in the first pic I think.

The pictures without the white cover are before sexing with all 10 plants going into flower. The pictures with the white cover are 5 female SS with one male.

It is truly amazing to watch the stretch. I commented before on how tight my internodes were at two weeks. No sign of that left.

Other changes: Changed bulbs to the HPS. First reservoir of nutrients lasted just over 3 weeks. Changed it out for fresh GH maxibloom and a bit of AN Big Bud and Carboload for kicks, at a TDS of 675ppm pH 5.5. I'll take that up a bit over time to about 800ppm. Humidity at 65% making for a fast growing environment. Really liking the performance of the Humidifogg420. It seems to be very reliable so far. The plan is to keep it there until about week 4 of flowering, then I'll dial it back to 50% for the ripening buds.
