TORONTO — Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair says investigators have recovered a digital video file that depicts Mayor Rob Ford and is “consistent with what had been previously described in various media reports.”

Blair also announced that police had on Thursday taken into custody the mayor’s friend, Alexander Lisi, and charged him with extortion. Lisi will appear in court today.

The police chief said he was “disappointed” after viewing the video.

Blair said the video was recovered as part of the Project Traveller raids on alleged gang activity in the city’s northwest end this summer.

“I think it’s fair to say the mayor does appear in that video but I’m not going to get into the detail of what activities is depicted in that video,” Blair said in a news conference at a police headquarters.

He said it is “consistent with what had been previously described in various media reports.”

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is shown in photo. Gawker website reported on a video its editor viewed that
is alleged to show Ford smoking crack cocaine. Ford is seen with Anthony Smith, left, and Muhammad
    Khattak, right.

The Toronto Star and Gawker.com reported earlier this year that they saw video of the mayor smoking crack cocaine and making a homophobic slur about Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau.

“We’ve done our job here,” says Blair. He said a second digital file that was “relevant” had also been recovered.

“I have been advised that we are now in possession of a recovered digital video file relevant to the investigations that have been conducted. That file contains video images which appear to be those images which were previously reported in the press, with respect to events that took place, we believe at a house on Windsor Road in Etobicoke.”

Blair made the extraordinary announcement shortly after court documents were released, revealing Ford’s close relationship with Lisi, an alleged drug dealer.

Toronto police assigned one of its most senior detectives to specifically investigate allegations that Ford is captured on a cell phone smoking crack cocaine, according to the documents.

Details of the probe are contained in a lengthy “information to obtain” (ITO) used by police to obtain a search warrant in the case of Lisi, who is accused of drug trafficking. A judge ordered portions of the ITO released to media.

“On May 18th, 2013 Detective Sergeant (Gary) Giroux was assigned to investigate the matter brought forth by the Toronto Star and gawker.com and their allegations against Mayor Rob Ford. Specifically to investigate the existence of a cellular phone containing a video of Ford smoking crack cocaine,” the sworn affidavit states.

The massive document includes pictures of Ford interacting with Lisi. The pair would often meet in parking lots and once met in “the woods.”

bail on drug charges in Toronto, Wednesday October 2, 2013. (THE CANADIAN PRESS/Mark Blinch)

The document alleges that Ford visited an Esso gas station and when Ford was inside, Lisi placed an envelope inside the mayor’s vehicle.

In July, police obtained a “production order” which allowed it to view a list of the telephone calls that Lisi made on his Rogers cell phone with a number of people, including Ford, Richview Cleaners, Fabio Basso, Liban Sayad and three people in the mayor’s office: Brooks Barnett, Thomas Beyer and Isaac Ransom.

The court file shows that Ford repeatedly called Lisi in March, 2013. One line notes: “March 28, 2013: (Anthony Smith is killed). Lisi and Mayor Ford speak 7 times.”

In March, 2013, Ford called Lisi’s cell phone 44 times. On March 30, Ford called Lisi twice; the same day, Lisi phoned Fabio Basso, a man whose house appeared in a photo of the mayor connected to an alleged crack video, five times.

Police found four numbers associated with Ford in Lisi’s phone records, including the mayor’s OnStar, cellphone, home line and a fourth number believed to be a second home landline.

Between June 25 and July 19, Ford called Lisi 27 times, records indicate; 19 of those calls were from the OnStar number in the mayor’s Escalade.

During the same time period, Lisi called the mayor 18 times, but only called his cellphone once — a “dramatic change” from previous phone records, police say.

On July 11, police allege, Lisi placed a package in the mayor’s Escalade at an Esso gas station without speaking to him, after the pair exchanged brief phone calls earlier in the afternoon.

“Lisi can be seen walking around near the Mayor’s Escalade still holding onto the manila envelope,” the ITO states. “Lisi appears to be looking around, possibly scoping out the area. Shortly after this image he walks along the passenger side of the Mayor’s Escalade and walks out of frame . . . Mayor Ford exits the Esso Station, gets back into his Escalade and exits the parking lot.”

Under a heading called “Project Traveller and the Rob Ford connection”, the police affidavit details surveillance that occurred at 15 Windsor Road, a home “believed to be a “Trap House” (crack house) for the named parties to sell drugs from.”

15 Windsor is believed to be the backdrop of a now infamous photo that shows Mayor Ford with a man who was later murdered (Smith), and two other men who were later arrested. It alleges that surveillance crew observed activity consistent with drug trafficking and that “no known persons” were seen. “There were no arrests or seizures made during this operation.”

Then, large swaths of information are blacked out, but there is a first reference in the document to Lisi, with his address and a brief description of his interactions with Toronto police. A subsequent line states “a unified search query of Mayor Rob Ford does not reveal that his phone was reported stolen.”

Also interviewed by police in the document was Nico Fidani, a former junior member of Ford’s staff. Two detectives spoke with him on June 26, at the police 22 Division station. Much of what he told them is redacted from the document before it was released to the media.

“If the Mayor is obtaining illegal narcotics then it is probably Sandro who is taking him to get them,” Fidani told police, according to the affidavit.

Ford refused to answer reporters’ questions about the documents Thursday morning at his home in Etobicoke. He screamed at media to “get off my property.”

The nearly 500-page document was released Thursday morning, one day after Superior Court Justice Ian Nordheimer found no “principled basis” on which the court should give notice to dozens of named parties.

Several media outlets filed an application to access the massive ITO (information to obtain a search warrant) after police this month raided a west-end dry cleaners, arresting owner Jamshid Bahrami and Lisi, the mayor’s friend and occasional driver.

The document, called an Information to Obtain a Search Warrant, referred to as an ITO, is a lengthy compendium of information used by police to convince a judge to issue a warrant that will allow them to search private property to further a drug investigation.

While not facts proven in court, it is information that officers swear gives them “reasonable and probable grounds to believe” there is evidence of a crime.

This ITO was used by Toronto police to search Lisi’s home at 5 Madill St., and was sworn before a judice of the peace on Oct. 2 by Detective Constable Ali Nader Khoshbooi.

This ITO is unusually long and detailed for such a document.

For months, police have been investigating the mayor and a number of his associates, including Lisi, as part of Project Brazen 2, an offshoot of the June guns-and-gangs sweep dubbed Project Traveller.

Although it began when Lisi was allegedly caught trying to trade drugs for the mayor’s stolen cellphone, Brazen 2 was far from a simple drug probe. Toronto police put veteran homicide detective Gary Giroux in charge of the sensitive investigation, and cast a blanket of silence over his squad’s work.

Before Wednesday’s ITO release, few details of the project had emerged; there were reports that a Cessna was employed to track the mayor’s movements, and a leaked police document shed some light on Brazen 2′s genesis. The document revealed that police first picked up on Lisi’s name in March — two months before reports of an alleged video showing Mayor Ford smoking a crack pipe — when he was captured on an intercepted communication related to Project Traveller.

“Lisi was heard to be brokering the return of a cellular phone stolen from an associate of his, with a payment of marihuana,” the document states. Although the document does not name the associate, it was allegedly Ford.

In June, after rounding up dozens of suspected gang members in the Project Traveller sweep, police began conducting surveillance on Lisi and discovered his connection to Bahrami’s dry cleaning business in Etobicoke. Investigators allege the pair, both charged with drug trafficking, were working together to sell marijuana out of the dry cleaners.

Lisi — who has multiple previous convictions dating back to 2001, including assault and threatening death — has been described by Ford as a “good guy” who is on the “straight and narrow.” The two are friends, and Lisi, who was angling for a job with the city of Toronto, sometimes drove the mayor around in his Range Rover.

Ford also wrote a character reference this past June when Lisi was being sentenced for threatening to kill a former girlfriend, touting the accused’s “tact and diplomacy” and lauding him as “an exemplary member of my campaign team.”

One of Lisi’s neighbours said she frequently saw Ford stop by; he parked at the curb and interacted with Lisi through the window of the car, neighbour Carol Peck said. A report in the Toronto Star said Lisi made “aggressive attempts” to retrieve the alleged crack video after the story broke in May.

In one of his only public responses to the ongoing scandal, Ford has said he does not smoke crack cocaine, and “I cannot comment on a video that I have never seen or does not exist.” He has repeatedly declined to comment on Brazen 2 or on the specifics of the Lisi case, saying the matter was “before the courts.”

Faced Wednesday with the imminent release of the ITO, Councillor Doug Ford, the mayor’s brother, said only: “I am not even paying attention to all that . . . Rob is the most honest politician in the country.”

EDIT: I do find a bit of irony in the fact that cocaine is not a narcotic, but the video starts off with what appears to be a high ranking member of the Toronto Police wearing a Poppy pin. Yes, I do understand the symbolism and why it was changed from white to red, it's just the LEO/political habit of labeling any 'controlled' substance a narcotic when that word properly applies to narcotics (ie narcosis -> sleep) and certainly not to stimulants.. apparently that bit annoys me at least enough to type a paragraph. A lot like when I see people eating tylenol like candy and assert that it's 100% safe "otherwise they couldn't sell it" despite it being the #1 overdose drug to take you to the Emergency Room and then the Morgue.

Rob Ford wasn't smoking crack on video, lawyer says

Suggests pipe in the video may have contained marijuana or tobacco

CBC News Posted: Nov 01, 2013 8:52 AM ET Last Updated: Nov 01, 2013 10:21 AM ET

AUDIO: Ford wants video released: lawyer

Rob Ford's lawyer urged police to release the video alleged to show the Toronto mayor smoking crack cocaine, and suggested Ford was smoking another substance, such as marijuana or tobacco.

Dennis Morris said in an interview with CBC News that Ford is "innocent of any allegations made about his smoking crack cocaine."

He also said neither police nor the Toronto Star reporters who say they have viewed the video can confirm the substance being smoked on the video is crack.

"No one is going to approach the media with a video saying he's smoking tobacco or marijuana it's not salacious enough," said Morris. "It's not going to sell newspapers, it's not going to make headlines all over the world."

(Listen to the interview with Morris by clicking on the audio file at the top of this story.)

"In my view the reporters from The Toronto Star have probably never smoked crack cocaine as [have] probably 99 per cent of our citizenry," said Morris. "For someone to approach them asking a large sum of money, would it make more sense to say 'I have a video of the mayor smoking crack cocaine, or have a video of the mayor smoking perhaps tobacco, or marijuana? Which one would you be interested in if you're going to buy a video?"

Morris's comments come one day after Toronto police Chief Bill Blair said police have in their possession "a digital file that contains video images which appear to be those images which were previously reported in the press."

Those statements are thought to confirm the existence of a video the two Star reporters say they've viewed, and that the newspaper has reported shows Ford smoking what appears to be crack cocaine.

    Ford denies being crack addict

But speaking with CBC on Friday, Morris suggested the video does not show Ford smoking crack.

"I urge the police chief to state under oath that he has seen a video of the mayor smoking crack cocaine," said Morris.

A week after reports of the tape broke in May, Ford said he could not comment on a tape that doesn't exist and denied he's a crack addict.

Reports about the tape triggered a massive police surveillance effort focused on Ford and his associates. Details of that police work made public Thursday show police tracking Ford and others with hidden cameras, undercover officers and airplane surveillance.

Ford's friend and occasional driver Alexander Lisi, who the surveillance shows made multiple calls and conducted clandestine meetings with Ford in the days after the story broke, is facing a charge of extortion and will appear in court today.

Police spokesperson Mark Pugash responded to Morris's comments Friday with a statement saying police do not plan to release the tape.

"Chief Blair has said, repeatedly, that we will put evidence before the courts and it is up to them to decide what is released," he said.

Toronto Mayor's Allies Call For Alleged Crack Video's Release

TORONTO -- TORONTO (AP) — Backers of embattled Toronto Mayor Rob Ford called Friday for police to release a video that appears to show him smoking a crack pipe, as outraged citizens of Canada's largest city called for the mayor's resignation.

Ford's lawyer and the mayor's brother, a city councilor, attacked Police Chief Bill Blair for talking publicly about the video, despite acknowledging it does not provide enough evidence to file charges against Ford. Police announced Thursday that they had recovered the video during a massive surveillance operation of an associate suspected of providing drugs to the mayor.

Dennis Morris, Ford's lawyer, told The Associated Press that Blair acted as "judge, jury and executioner" when he said he was "disappointed" in the mayor. Ford's brother Doug said the chief erred when he made his personal opinions known to the public.

Ford had claimed the video didn't exist and vowed not to resign, repeating the pledge Thursday.

Voters could have the final word on the strange career of the populist mayor whose travails have captivated and embarrassed Canadians for months. Ford has promised to run for a second term next year.

"I have no reason to resign," Ford told reporters with a smile, as his office welcomed visitors to check out its Halloween decorations Thursday.

The embattled mayor, who is the butt of jokes on U.S. late night television, said he couldn't defend himself because the affair is part of a criminal investigation involving an associate, adding: "That's all I can say right now."

Ford faced allegations in May that he had been caught on video puffing from a glass crack pipe. Two reporters with the Toronto Star along with one from the U.S. website Gawker said they saw the video, but it still has not been released publicly. Ford has maintained he does not smoke crack and that the video did not exist.

Ford has long vilified the Toronto Star, accusing the paper of trying to take him down. The police department's revelations Thursday vindicated the paper's reporting.

Ford was elected mayor three years ago on a wave of discontent simmering in the city's outlying suburbs. Since then he has survived an attempt to remove him from office on conflict-of-interest charges and has appeared in the news for his increasingly odd behavior.

But the pressure ramped up on Thursday with all four major dailies in the city calling on Ford to resign.

Cheri DiNovo, a member of Ontario's parliament, tweeted: "Ford video nothing to celebrate Addiction is illness. Mayor please step down and get help?"

Blair said the video, recovered after being deleted from a computer hard drive, did not provide grounds to press charges against Ford.

"As a citizen of Toronto I'm disappointed," Blair said. "This is a traumatic issue for citizens of this city and the reputation of this city."

Blair said the video will come out when Ford's associate and occasional driver, Alexander Lisi, goes to trial on drug charges. Lisi now also faces extortion charges for trying to retrieve the recording from an unidentified person. Blair did not say who owned the computer containing the video. Lisi was released on bail Friday morning.

Blair said authorities believed the video is linked to a home in Toronto, referred to by a confidential informant as a "crack house" in court documents in Lisi's drug case.

The prosecutor in the Lisi case released documents Thursday showing they had rummaged through Ford's garbage in search of evidence of drug use. They show that they conducted a massive surveillance operation monitoring the mayor and Lisi following drug use allegations.

The police documents, ordered released by a judge, show Ford receiving packages from Lisi on several occasions.

Ford recently vouched for Lisi in a separate criminal case, praising his leadership skills and hard work in a letter filed with the court. The letter was part of a report prepared by a probation officer after Lisi was convicted of threatening to kill a woman.

Ford's controversies range from the trivial to the serious: Walking face-first into a TV camera. Falling down during a photo op while pretending to play football. Being asked to leave an event for wounded war vets because he appeared intoxicated, according to the Toronto Star. Being forced to admit he was busted for marijuana possession in Florida in 1999, after repeated denials. Making rude gestures at Torontonians from his car.

"The mayor has said there wasn't a video," Toronto councilor Paula Fletcher said. "He has said there is a conspiracy against him. With Chief's Blair's press conference I think that's put to rest."

TORONTO – Mayor Rob Ford is expected to make an “announcement” on his radio show Sunday at 1 p.m.

What the announcement might be is unknown. But it comes a day after a meeting with Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly, deputized by Ford’s allies to convey their “concerns”; and days after police Chief Bill Blair confirmed he had seen a video showing the mayor smoking what appears to be crack cocaine.

Also on Thursday, hundreds of pages of documents detailing a months-long investigation into the mayor and his friend Alexander “Sandro” Lisi were released to the public.

Lisi was arrested Oct. 1 for several drug related charges including trafficking marijuana. On Thursday he was charged with extortion.

He was released on $5,000 bail.

    Related: Ongoing Rob Ford coverage

But despite the growing scandal, the mayor refused to resign when asked by reporters at city hall Saturday following his meeting with Kelly.

Neither Ford nor Kelly would divulge the outcome of the meeting, instead telling reporters they’d have to wait for the mayor’s “announcement” on his Newstalk 1010 radio show, The City.

Global News will be live streaming the radio show beginning at 1 p.m. and reporter Jackson Proskow will be live blogging.

Rob Ford apologizes for 'mistakes' but won't step down

Ford cites his behvaiour at Taste of Danforth festival and St. Patrick's Day

Rob Ford calls on Chief Blair to release video 9:16

Mayor Rob Ford is apologizing to Torontonians for "mistakes" he has made, but says he will not be leaving office, despite the fact that police have recovered a controversial video that allegedly shows the city’s chief magistrate using crack cocaine.

Speaking on his weekly radio show on Sunday afternoon, Ford called on the city’s police chief to release the controversial video that investigators obtained during a series of raids earlier this year.

"I’ve been thinking for a long time of what I’m going to say today," Ford said on Newstalk 1010.

"And first of all, I believe that this video, I want the police chief, Bill Blair, to release this video for every single person in this city to see. That is the right thing to do and chief, I am asking you to release this video now."

The mayor said the video should be released, so that "whatever this video shows… people need to judge for themselves what they see on this video."

His remarks came just three days after Blair confirmed in a news conference that investigators retrieved a video from a seized hard drive that features the mayor. Blair said the video was "consistent" with descriptions of the mayor smoking from a crack pipe, as reported by U.S. gossip website Gawker and the Toronto Star.

Toronto police spokesperson Mark Pugash told CBC News on Sunday that the position of the police has not changed, with respect to the release of the video.

Last week, the city’s police chief said that it is the job of investigators to gather evidence, but it is courts that decide whether that evidence is admissible and also whether it is made public.

    Mayor admits ‘mistakes’

When the reports about the video first emerged in May, Ford denied both using crack cocaine and the video’s existence.

On Sunday, Ford apologized for unspecified "mistakes," though he did not initially elaborate on what they were.

"I'm the first one to admit, friends, I'm the first one to admit, I am not perfect. I have made mistakes ... and all I can do right now is apologize for the mistakes," he said.

About an hour into his radio show, however, Ford made specific reference to his behaviour at public events — including at the Taste of the Danforth street festival during the summer.

"I’ve made mistakes, like, where do I begin?" Ford said. "For example, the Danforth, that was pure stupidity. I shouldn’t have got hammered down at the Danforth. If you’re going to have a couple of drinks, you stay at home and that’s it, you don’t make a public spectacle of yourself."

Ford also referred to things getting "a little out of control" on St. Patrick’s Day.

While he said he intended to make changes in his life, Ford said he couldn’t “mislead people” by telling them he will be perfect in future.

"To sit here and say: ‘You know, I’m going to lose 100 pounds and I’m going to be a brand new person in six months, or a year,’ I’m not going to mislead people," he said.

"I’m going to do my very best to make sure these mistakes don’t happen again. And I don’t know what else to say."
    Ford won’t step down

The mayor made no mention of any plans to step down, or take a leave of absence.

"I am going to ride the storm out and just keep doing what I was elected to do," Ford said.

During his radio show, Ford reiterated his intention to run for a second term next year.

Well before the mayor’s radio show ended, several members of city council were reacting to his comments on Twitter.

Two members of council said that Ford should step down:

    Toronto needs a new mayor.
    — Josh Matlow (@JoshMatlow) November 3, 2013

As I said 6 months ago - stepping aside is in the best interest of the City, the Mayor and his family. #topoli
    — Jaye Robinson (@JayeRobinson) November 3, 2013

Coun. Shelley Carroll suggested the mayor’s call for the video to be released was a disingenuous one, as she said it is clear the police are unable to do that:

I believe Mayor (&his lawyers) knows he can ask for the Video to be released precisely because it won't be. #Ford1010 #TOpoli
    — Shelley Carroll (@shelleycarroll) November 3, 2013

The mayor also took calls from members of the public, including one from an 81-year-old woman who said Ford should be looking at a leave of absence.

"I want you to take a medical leave … just a medical leave, I’m asking for you to do this," the caller said.

    "You need it."

Ford has served as the mayor of Toronto for the past three years. Prior to that, he was a city councillor in a ward in the Toronto suburb of Etobicoke.

Since taking on the job as mayor, Ford has often drawn headlines both for his work at city hall and his life outside of it.

He faced a removal challenge relating to a conflict-of-interest issue, which led to a judge ordering him removed from office. But Ford won an appeal and held onto his job.

Ford has had a testy relationship with the city’s media at times, particularly over the last few months.

On Sunday, the mayor reiterated a request that the media not come to his house when pursuing stories about him.

“I just want to say one thing to the media and I’ve said this before — I beg you, I plead with you: Please, please, please do not come to my front door and stand on my driveway,” he said.

Last Thursday, Ford confronted several members of the media who were standing on his driveway, before he left for city hall.

Sorry, Shad, but I don't think you have a chance.

Apparently the GTA has a lot of crack addicts in the city who *like* Ford's antics.

His approval rating went *up* 5% in recent polls...

Then again, considering how many drug users I used to know in the GTA (of all stripes), I shouldn't be surprised. The city really should be rated as more tokable than Vansterdam.

Marc you always spout statistics about this boards bot, spider and visitor left alone thinly veiled attacks on both the owner and administration of TY. Now you seem to have LT wrapped around your little finger.

How about you tell us the percentage of your registered user that have been poached from TY. I'm sure you have at least an estimate. You have spent years planting the seeds of contempt and repeatedly pulling the shit that's in the previous post.
    Peace Hoppy

I am not the kind of person that you believe that I am HopaLong.

TY members who decided to register at the MedPot.net Forums decided to do so by themselves (mostly those who missed the news), and I have NEVER poached anyone to do so...not by PM or email either.

My free time on this board is limited (to HELP this board), and it's impossible for me to post everything you can read on MedPot...but I do my best to post major threads to keep TY members informed.

TY members who registered to the MedPot.net Forums represent a small percentage of our actual registered members, and just a few of them participate - sadly.

The 'thinly' veiled attacks (as you say) concerning ALL the bots and spiders who used to invade this board was to protect the security and privacy of it's members - for your own good.

I have tried to convince Marco since 2006 to get rid of Google and all other bots and spiders (used by spammers, search engines and authorities) invading this board, but for Marco, numbers were more important, and he refused to do so..even if most of these guests were fictive and their presence made that they were jeopardizing the privacy and security of TY's members.

Gladly, LT cared to listen and comply - for the welfare of members on this board!

But, if you and perhaps other TY members believe that I'm only here to promote the MedPot.net Forums and not for helping this board, then I will cease my postings.

Frankly, I'm way too ill and busy to take this kind of shit!

Sorry about that LT and everyone who liked my presence here.

    Goodbye everyone.

    Peace,

    Marc

I for one enjoy Marcs posts and was glad you started posting here again. I am a member at both sites and visit them both daily. I joined back when TY went offline a year or so back, right around the "if you don't like it leave" incident and a few others landed there also, I invited some, so did others, we were all ready reading your posts back then on TY so it was a natural fit, that and the fact that he had a chat room and back then alotta TY peeps used the chat room daily, (5am is wayyyy to early for me though lol)
I may be wrong Hoppy, and correct me if I'm wrong Marc, but I believe Marc's just trying to help and it someimes may come accross alittle rough, but I think that may be because Marc's bi (*snicker) and english is his second language

I had started working on the security settings long before Marc had made suggestions. Right now google has basically no info on our site - https://www.google.com/#q=treatingyourself.org+ I am trying to keep our presence kinda low key until everything with treatingyourself.com is taken care of. Then I will allow google to index more of our non-sensitive information.

I will be trying to work with more forums in the future, site linking has it's plus and minuses. Many reference other sites, I could be a dictator and disallow it, but who does that benefit. TY has lost a lot of membership participation as decline in interest by Marco was displayed. As you can see I am making a lot of changes to distinguish the TY Online Community from the Treatingyourself.COM Online Community. But just as always, Treating Yourself will always cater to the medical community.

Actually without me, it would be gone. Marco was debating on shutting everything down for good, I told him if he did I would take it over and keep the forums going. So in a nutshell, TY would of been gone very soon. Not much longer and the .com will no longer exist on the interwebs.

With all respect LT, I have been asking for more security on this board since 2006, and you are here since 2010.

In the last years, 2 TY members lost their jobs because their boss did some searches on Google with their names, and they landed here because the newspaper links were discontinued...articles related to some marijuana busts.

I still have the PM's from these members asking me to delete these threads on TY, but since Google did a snapshot of them here, these articles will remain there for ever.

I'm not a moderator here, so Shadimar deleted one of these threads...but it was already too late.

So, if you let Google back in your news section, it could happen again - no matter who will post in your news section in the future.

LT said: I will be trying to work with more forums in the future, site linking has it's plus and minuses.
Not too tempting from my own behalf after being accused of casting my fishing rod in here ('just' for the MedPot.net Forums) when I was ONLY trying to help you and your board - how sad.

Even one of your own moderators is sick of me.

So how can I feel welcomed on this board?

I didn't come back here to be accused of anything and to be treated with disrespect.

But sadly, as far as I remember, false accusations, disputes and disrespect by some members and even some moderators have always been common on TY - no matter if it's not permitted under your board's terms and rules.

You didn't even criticize the member and moderator who were unkind and unjust to me under this post, and you didn't mention that you appreciated my free services on your board.

So why should I help you and your board now?

Please give me '1' good reason why.

As you have perhaps noticed, I removed the MedPot.net Forums link in my profile under every post I made, so none here should accuse me of anything once more.

No one here will get sick or sicker here because of 'me'...that wasn't the purpose of my presence.

I made a mistake by coming back on TY, and I regret that I did.

LT said: Our news section is lacking. And yes, we are a breed of our own here! One big happy dysfunctional family

Sadly and unfortunately I did (and I regret it too), but if I would have known about the lack of security and that Google was doing some snap shots of these articles here, I wouldn't have posted them on this board.

Since then, I know of '1' other very popular and active TY member who got busted.

That was before LT banned Google on this board, but I didn't post the related article (with his name) on TY, because I was aware this time that it could have had some negative consequences towards this member.

Yes I have been a member since 2010. Admin since 2012. I was only allowed to do so much as Marco was the owner. I did what I could at the time in regards to security, which wasn't much. After I had begun the transition to Treatingyourself.org is when I started implementing more security features.

Everyone fishes in the best holes they can find, there is no fault there. As it has been said, Medpot.net is more of a news forum whereas we are more geared to the medicinal aspect of growing and idea exchange. I see no reason why a membercould not participate on either board.

Real Time with Bill Maher hit on the topic on Friday night, and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart touched on it last night, I haven't gotten to Colbert yet.

What's interesting is the "You can't prove what's in the pipe" defense. Now of course, you can't actually test what was smoked from a video file. And to elaborate, if you've watched Breaking Bad I suspect that the prop meth is simply rock candy.. but then of course what was the mayor of Toronto smoking out of that crack pipe that looks exactly like crack but doesn't burn like a macadamia nut?

Also note that you can't prove that every pic I've ever posted wasn't just a clever bit of art school training combined with a few old illusionist tricks from my teens.

.. that last one doesn't really get us very far in conversation though.

Personally I'm glad to see you here helping out with security and posting news highlights, Marc. But you know that already.

On a more related note to the original topic of this thread....

In private industry, one is typically given three choices when caught with a drug or alcohol problem (or both, as the case may be):

    1. Be suspended while attending rehab
    2. Resign
    3. Be fired

Yet here we have Ford trying to claim special priveleges to keep on working as usual, with no attempt at dealing with his problem(s).

What do you think? Should a politician be allowed to serve out their term in circumstances like this, or should the same rules as private industry apply?

That is a good point, Groo.

I'm sure we've all heard many a story of an individual who has been fired for a simple cannabis possession ticket or something more serious such as a drunken driving offense even though these are not actually work related and the overwhelming majority of cases the persons in question were not political figures.

It goes to show, if you're going to screw up: screw up big and be important otherwise you might get in trouble.

    ***

Side Story: There's an old case (remember that word) about a man who was in a drug store one day when he noticed that the active ingredient in a Vicks Inhaler was L-desoxyephedrine. Some of you probably see where this is going already: when you remove that oxygen atom from ephedrine you get methamphetamine; in this case L-meth which is an effective bronchiodialator but exactly the opposite isomer of what Heisenberg was making.

Recognizing a business opportunity, he returned with a partner to buy Vicks Inhalers by the case to extract the L-meth for sale. The pharamcist also knew what L-desoxyephedrine meant and contacted the DEA. Both men were arrested and charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, which I find to be interesting as Vicks did all the manufacturing (or possibly they purchased it in bulk) and the two men only removed it from the plastic.
