    Default TBI's and MMJ

Ok, So in 2008 I suffered a TBI at work. My skull was fractured and my ear drums were ruptured from the force of the impact. I am now a completely different person than I was prior to my head injury. I suffer from daily headaches, migraines, PTSD, anxiety, as well as neck and back pain.

I recently bit the bullet and decided to talk to my new family doctor (my old one retired a year ago) about joining HC MMAR program. She just smiled and said that she isnt able to sign the forms for me because "doctors need to register with HC in order to sign the MMRA forms and I havnt done so because it just causes to many issues". I didnt feel comfortable challenging her right there on the spot, so I went home and called the college of physicians and surgeons. I asked if they had a list of doctors in BC who had registered with HC to be able to sign off MMAR forms. I was told that there is no list, and no need for my family Dr to register with HC before signing.

Im a Category 2 patient so I would need a specialists signature on my forms as well, unfortunatly the Psychologist I had been seeing (who knew I used marijuana to treat myself) also retired shortly after my 1 year WCB time limit with him had expired. I tried to get in touch with him through the college of psychologists of BC, but to no avail.

So now Im screwed, No family doctor, No specialist...no medicine.

I feel hopeless, has anybody here recieved their expemption because of a TBI or head injury?

    There is.

Although we have another member here in a similar TBI situation who began using cannabis for the pain, and the WCB denied him on the basis that they believed all his issues to stem from "his cannabis addiction" which of course began after the fall off the ladder.

As someone who had to fight for Disability benefits, sometimes facts don't matter to the decision makers as much as who is speaking to them.

In Ontario the WSIB has reluctantantly granted entitlement to some workers; but only after they have gone through the whole appeal process. A lawyer at a legal clinic, Marian Endicott, won the first decision.

To research both all related decisions go to:

    http://www.wsiat.on.ca/ExtDec/default.asp

    • click on KEYWORD DIRECTORY
    • enter marijuana in the search box and press SEARCH
    • press ADD TO SEARCH button
    • press DECISION SEARCH
    • press SEARCH button

Check out all 18 decisions, as why an appeal was denied is as important why an appeal was successful.

There are rumors that some labor side lawyer/s are putting together a group appeal; call and check labor side lawyers in your area.

Ya, if there is one thing I know, its not to trust WCB. They will do anything to avoid having to pay out disability. It it truly unbelievable how close minded and ignorant some people are when it comes to MMJ.

Ive been through hell and back with presciription pills, as I'm sure most of you guys have. Marijuana has been the ONLY thing that has relieved my constant headaches and migraines, eased my anxiety and has allowed me to de-stress. And it did all of that with ZERO side effects....except maybe a little weight gain due to the munchies.

How is this plant still illegal?!?
