    Default Harvesting

I'm in week 8 of 12/12. I will be moving on Feb 25, this will be forcing a harvest wether at peak time or not. The trichs are mostly cloudy, some amber and some clear but the pistils are mostly white with some darkening and receding. Buds feel dense and smell awesome(can y'all tell I'm an excited newcomer?). If I'm force to harvest in the next week, am I compromising quality or quantity?? Don't want to come this far and loose the farm..have a great day.

Quantity, you still have two weeks to fill out so I'm not too concerned.

Quality, it's already likely to be better than anything you've ever paid for. It would be fine now but the extra two weeks will add weight, personally I go for all cloudy but some here don't consider it done until half the trichs are amber.

That bit depends on taste once they're cloudy.

    .

I have to be moved out and into my new house the weekend of February 22. Never thought my house would sell as quickly as it did. I have no choice other than to pull that Thursday or Friday.

It's to bad you can't go longer cause from what i can see your plants will need to go atleast 2 weeks longer.
If your going to pull them down make sure your just given them plain phd water or the taste won't be so good.

This is my first real grow. Years of shooting in the dark. This site has been an invaluable reasourse of information. Did res change two hours ago, how many days of just adjusted water?. Friday looks like the day to cut them down. Will this one week cause a huge decrease in potency/weight ? Whatever the result, this has been a fun and exciting way to spend some of my free time and excercise my thought processing. Heck of a hobby.....Next run is in the basement of my new house in 5gallon containers and a little more light(and no realestate transacitions to get in the way).

Well it doesn't matter if a week makes a difference or not if you have no choice but cut. Just cut & don't look back.

Not much you can do about it, but it's too bad you can't take it longer as that pic shows young flowers that still need time to ripen.

pack them up and move them with you....
garbages, water, tape on the roots, then garbage bag the whole plant and tape
    then cooler them for transport
if they die who cares, you were gonna kill them anyway
if they live they will get better

Thought of that also. Just time and space are not going to work out this time. The person buying my house is an on-duty police officer from Cleveland Ohio, and I don't want to take a chance of anything coming out that he might find. Looks like Wednesday afternoon is going to be the day. I check the trichrome's in my microscope every day and they are clouding up well with some amber mixed in. Going to trim & hang Wednesday and jar it up for the move Sunday. Thanks for all the advice, hell of a learning g experience.

NO JAR THAT QUICK.. you will have a jar o mold, or at least ruined smell/taste

wrap it in paper towels, paper bag it, then plastic bag it if you have to hide the smell..
and if you have ambers it will not be for nothing

    GOOD LUCK.

Went and cut & trimmed today. Had 1 bud with mold. Smelled to high hell. More airflow next round. Got them hanging and on racks in a cabinet with a fan moving air. Thanks again for all the info.

if the stem snaps you can prob jar it, just check it..
i like stem breaking good, but not dry snap..

    do whatever you can
    just check them often
because a little moisture left if the stem, in sealed jars can ruin smell/tastes
or even mold a crop in just a few days,
mold is very had to see untill the problem gets bad

always better to be safe (keep checking) than sorry..
    youll figure it out

Mold tends to colonize from damper interior outward.

By the time you see it on the surface (occasional threads of mycellium excluded) the interior is already lunch.

Aspergillus is not the deadly toxin worth canning the med mar program over like the media likes to pretend, citric acid is made via the same genus of mold meaning if you've ever had a soft drink you've ingested aspergillus byproducts, however smoking mold is neither fun nor healthy.

It was in one bud that I split open due to the way it felt when I was trimming it. I'll keep y'all posted

If you have a microscope handy you can check the bud for what looks like fine threads of clear-whitish silk running over the top of the flowers.

This is the mycellium that these mold use essentially as their body. It's not a devastating sign, but is a good prompt to harvest and check the entire plant and neighbors for mould.

Isn't that the same stuff that mushrooms use? Truffles too I would guess.

This is what I reaped. Not bad in my opinion having been a McGyver(ish) setup. Smells great and will suffice til I get moved & starty next round. Could not have made it this far without y'all's help.

It's been hanging and on a rack in front of a fan since Monday evening. It's getting pretty dry. Going to sample it Friday night.
