    Red face Dalai Lama quote

    Dalai Lama
We are driven by self-interest, it’s necessary to survive. But we need wise self-interest that is generous and co-operative, taking others’ interests into account. Co-operation comes from friendship, friendship comes from trust, and trust comes from kind-heartedness. Once you have a genuine sense of concern for others, there’s no room for cheating, bullying or exploitation.

I saw him two years ago in Toronto speak to a large crowd. To be honest, I couldn't understand a word he said!!!! Shame really since I think he's the bees knees. He spoke in broken English with a very thick accent and I was in the nose bleed seats. He might even have said the words in your quote above - who knows?

Wow. Too bad you couldn't understand him. Its amazing when someone manages to live a peaceful life in spite of all those who would arrest him if given a chance. He preaches tolerance and respect. Items in short supply.
