Here we are at week 8 and the plants are coming along nicely. The Super Kush is coming to a finish and the Rainbow Chunky is powering along also.
I figure the Super Kush will be done in a week with the Rainbow Chunky going another 2 weeks.

The plants are coping well in the 8" pots. I am now flushing the Super Kush in prep for harvest next week. There are clearly 2 phenos of the Super Kush - one pheno being taller and a few days quicker to finish. The plants have the most amazing unctuous aromas. Too yummy!

No, not difficult at all. Had I some pollen this time around I would have done just that. My plan is to cross the Rainbow Chunky with one of Nevil's Hazes. - hence Rainbow Haze.

Heads up, beautiful set of plants... especially love how the rainbow chunky flows out at the bottom like a dress. I am watching and learning, thank you for the love and information.
Will be going with 8" pots to save some space after seeing your results.

Curious about the cbd content in those Nimbin strains, would be nice to cross with a high cbd strain for yield, vigor and flavor.

Here are some nice pics of the very frosty Nevil's Super Kush at day 60. I flushed the plants and am expecting to harvest on day 65.
One interesting thing is that two of the three Super Kush were not topped - the one that was topped (the taller pheno) has doubled in yield by my eye. Quite a marked difference so in future I would be recommending that the taller pheno of this strain be topped.

    Hey Moose,

Just curious, not trying to step on your toes, but I notice that your Rainbow Chunky is super healthy but wondering if you are going to do a fade(i call fade when you induce drought, or lower temps or decrease or remove the light) in order to get that final swelling of the sativa bud.

Just curious where you go from here from one conniseur to another

    Good question!
I am at the stage where I am now carbo boosting by using maple syrup. This combined with lower night temps in the grow room (16C) and a reduced watering regimen (wet/dry) should provide the fill out of the sativa buds that I am after.
Keep in mind I am under a 1K metal halide (warm spectrum), and so long as I can keep going the way I am now, I should be ok. I have done sativas before under the 1K metal halide so I know the sativas will fully form.

Since the subject was raised, Moose, Do you use MH because that's what you have available or is it to coax out tropical aspects that only show with a whiter light typical of the equator compared to the lower angle seen in the further north and south latitudes?

The real reason I use a metal halide is purely aesthetics - the plants look much so better under a MH lamp lol. Seriously. It is also far easier to diagnose plant problems under a MH than a HPS. My experience is that there is a minimal difference in yield from HPS to MH, so using the MH does not cost me in yield.

Ya, MH,Never thought, but thats another great advantage- they dont impair your vision whilst viewing your plants. Colours are true, perspectives and contrasts are sharper.
Makes a huge difference in ascertaining how "green" your plants actually are.
Makes it easier to spot bugs also...

Also, Moose, what are some of the scents coming off the Kush and the Rainbow atm?
