Tank was my mate. Off site I knew him as Dave. We clicked and bonded right from the get go. Red neck and Aussie eh!

A kindly man who knew the meaning of compassion...true and brutal compassion...he was helping others up to a few weeks ago. Just amazing.

Tank was a simple bloke. He worked construction most of his life, and knew what hard work was. He was tough and rough as guts, but inside he was a gem.

Go with the angels mate. I will be looking for the black lab to know you have crossed over.

Love you mate. Honest to the very end.

I told you I would play this song after your time came.

    "Wings of an Eagle"

On the wings of an eagle I find myself lifted through the skies
Lifted up above the world to see
    Can you see me?

    Unhappy

I want to tell you about someone very special.

    Dave, you were my friend.

    I miss you so much.

I didn't know you for anywhere near as long as I wish I had.

Every now and then someone comes along with the heart of an angel. Although facing your doom, you were one of the most gentlest, humblest, most open men I have ever had the priviledge of calling my friend.

I will miss our late night chats. Our mutual confusion and banter over the differences between Aussies and Yanks (I love the Yanks). Your view of the world was so all-encompassing. You loved history. You loved holding the coinage of history in your hands and pondering the momentous events that preceded us.

I will miss your natural curiosity about so many things. You loved to learn Dave, you appreciated our world. You taught me so much.

The dignity and honour with which you kept yourself in your last days, even going to the extent of reassuring your non-suffering friends that you were fine. That everything was going to be ok and not to worry. The humour you kept up. I admired you my friend.

I'm just so sorry I never told you how much you meant to me.

I will not forget you Dave. I have lighted a candle next to my Chanukah candles in honour of you. My whole house grieves with me.

I will not forget you. Thank you for allowing me in to share a wonderful friendship.

Vale Dave (Tank) - One of the greats.

Although I was aware this day was approaching it's never easy to cope with. Tank was an amazing guy... The man went out of his way to make everyone feel welcome. I've only known him for a little over a year but felt as if he was a person I could have been friends with my whole life. I wish my deapest condolenses to his family. Moose I know how close you were and am so sorry.

Your strain is still in the works bro, your name will live on!

This isn't a surprise, which makes it a bit worse knowing there is nothing we could have done. I will miss dave, he was also one of my first "contacts" here at TY and has since became a good friend to have. He helped to show me true compassion and to always be on the optimistic side of things. I will miss him, I too will be lighting a candle, for yet another fallen soldier. May his passing remind us to continue the compassion and the fight that has been established here. I will miss the PM's asking about my family and my three daughter's school and softball woes or how my baby son is doing, he truly cared and I will miss him for that. Many condolences from my entire family to his, RIP brother, you will be remembered.

I totally valued other people who have treated me in the same welcomin way that others have described tank treated them when joinin . The comments you guys have made about him are very touching . And only hope that i can touch the people round me in the same way this guy did .

We all saw Tank towards the end of his life, when the cancer was eating at him and taking him from us day by day. Few of us got to see what went before...when he was young, fit and vibrant.
Tank was a real red neck. As red as they come. But he was tres cool at the same time.
Here is my mate when he was fit to roar.
